The 2009 Cadillac XLR
The Cadillac XLR sports car has always received mixed reviews. Many people see this car as being an overpriced Corvette in a tuxedo, as was originally quipped when it was first introduced. Many feel that this is not accurate due to the fact that Corvettes handle better than the XLR. Regardless of its mixed reception, this is a model of sports car that is making some dramatic changes in the way the automobile industry makes cars. The new 2009 model is out to continue this tradition and as such has introduced some innovative and exciting new features.
The new features of the 2009 Cadillac XLR are many including new front and rear fascias, side fender vents, fog lamps, and upper and lower grilles. It should also be noted that the 2009 also features an innovative hood that possesses a raised inner section as has been used in their V series in the past. The additional external attributes, such as the front and rear fascias, give the car its identifying look which is sure to draw a lot of attention. Also added for the XLR Platinum are a revised rear fascia with exhaust tips that are more pronounced, and an enhanced eighteen inch wheel design with optional chrome.
Perhaps even more impressive than the outside of this sports car is the inside however. As is usual with the Cadillac brand, this new 2009 model of XLR is a unique blend of technology and luxury. One interesting aspect is the material used for the headliner. It is Alcantara which is very much like suede micro fiber. It can come in either ebony or cashmere. Also of interest, the leather used for the instrument panel is hand-cut and sewn. This is all part of the company’s new approach to modern and elegant craftsmanship.
High technology has always been a part of what the Cadillac name has stood for, especially when it comes to the XLR sports car. In the 2009 model, you can count on the Magnetic Ride Control system, Keyless Entry, DVD navigation and entertainment, heated and cooled seats, heated steering wheel, head up display, and much more. It also features some truly innovative features such as Adaptive Forward Lighting. This is actually headlamps that swivel along with the driver whichever way he or she steers the vehicle. Also included is Adaptive Cruise Control.
Some additional benefits and features of the XLR sports car include Onstar 8.0, Bluetooth capabilities, turn by turn navigation provided by Mapquest, and more. With one interesting feature called Destination Download, you are able to download directions from Onstar directly to the car’s navigation system. A subscription to Onstar is not required in order to use the Bluetooth features. As always, if you are looking for the perfect fusion of technology and luxury, you simply cannot go wrong with a Cadillac. If you are on a budget however, this car is not for you as it sports a hefty base price of $82,690.
