1951 Chevy 3100 Truck

After World War II, Chevrolet needed a new pickup truck, and the Advance Design became the best-selling truck in America during its model run. These trucks came in standard grades of 3100 1/2-ton, 3600 3/4-ton, and 3800 1-ton. Both short and long wheelbase trucks were offered. Engine options were limited to a series of inline 6-cylinder plants at 216, 235, and 261 cubic inches. Transmissions were 3 and 4-speed manuals and the original hydramatic automatic in 1954-1955. All of the Advance Design trucks featured a stepside bed design. A good condition Advance Design pickup is collectible, but pickups have never attained the prices that cars of the same era command. The appeal is in the particular truck, not in the option package.
